Sunday walk II
Egret & snake
It's a dull humid day and my 3-km walk into the 'village' starts uneventfully with a distinct lack of insect life, possibly due to recent rain. There are a few flutter-by's but nothing of note. However once I have descended 100-m to a brook that is usually dry, I find gushing water and encounter many egrets. The first egret photographed is the one above which had just caught a snake. It really is the most beautiful bird and especially in flight seen from any angle ...
Snake flies Egretair ...
Another egret in full flight shows off its perfect feathers, shape and translucent wings.
Kingfisher
Spot the kingfisher
Although the walk today was dominated by egrets, I did manage to capture the blur of a kingfisher darting through the brook. Birds are particularly hard to photograph and the kingfisher must be one of the most difficult. Even when seen with the naked eye they are rarely more than a passing vibrant turquoise blur.
Flowers are still plentiful
