Central Taiwan (Aowanda)

Aowanda National Forest Recreation park covers a wide area in the heart of the mountains. The park is well off the beaten track and the scenery is spectacular with plenty of well laid out walking routes for those interested in nature. The view above as seen from the suspension bridge.

Slate makes up the major ground structure.

Fonglin suspension bridge takes you across a gorge from the maple to the pine forests.

There is no shortage of birdlife, this photo shows a White-eared Sibia which is native to Taiwan.

What appear at first to be bark-less trees are in fact smooth bark trees designed to prevent monkeys from scaling them. However the monkey's seem to have long since left this area but they can still be found further south in the Kaohsiung region.
