Cobweb alley

Despite venturing out before noon the heat and humidity continue to test my endurance during today's Sunday walk, with the addition of some aggressive mosquitoes. Down 'cobweb alley' I dodge and brush away caterpillars hanging on silken threads from trees, while staring through the long grass for any unwanted critters. It feels rather like a daylight version of a ghost-train ride at the fairground. I see many Cicadas flying around and manage a couple of photos of them making up for last week. Walking is really no fun now and it is only the increased variety of insects that makes it worthwhile and an event not to be missed.

A new butterfly to add to the collection.

Some bug impersonating a butterfly.

Cicadas close-up, this one was pegged out on the tennis court obviously couldn't take the heat.

Big spider in its web suspended between trees waits patiently for its prey.

PS

The day started fine with a clear deep blue sky and large billowing cumulus clouds but by lunchtime the heavy rain was back with thunder from a leaden sky.
